Update from Matthew's Nana

Greetings to one and all.
I am going to try this once again and see if I can keep from deleating it this time.

I no longer watch Van. I was putting in around 96 hours of babysitting a week and something had to give. The only free time that I had was when I was asleep. A lot of times I was not getting to sleep till 1230 or later and then having to get up around 6 or a little after. This ole' woman has to have a little more sleep. It is nice that I can still have the girls in the morning and then have my evenings to myself. I am feeling lots better.

This past weekend my spiritual Dad Hovis, his son and 2 grandsons came for a weekend visit. They came for my birthday which was the 4th. I am sweet 16 and holding. LOL. Dad Hovis's mind is really slipping fast and it is sad to see him the shape that he is in today even to compare when the last time that I saw him in October. His attention span is very short and cannot remember anything. When we saw him in October he had his great sense of humor and was really teasing a lot but this time it was not that way. Davey(his son) has his hands full of taking care of him plus trying to work on the side. I am going to go out this summer and do some canning for him and that will help out plus give him a break as well.

Martha fixed dinner Sunday while we were at church and boy did it ever taste GOOD. She fixed beef n noodles, mash potatoes, green beans, broccoli slaw, jello salad, hot rolls and dessert. The rolls are from a mix that I get at Wal Mart that taste like the ones that you get at Reb Lobster. They are Pillsbury brand and are only 97 cents. The receipe calls for water but I use milk instead. They taste better as far as I am concern. They are called cheese and garlic flavor.

We are to get Matthew tomorrow night. I can hardly wait. He is so entertaining at times. It sure does not seem possible that he turned 5 on the 2nd.

Last Sunday, a gal from our church gave a presentation about her going to Guatemalea( I hope that is spelled right) and at the end told how many shares that she needed to go and etc. Anyway they started to take up an offering and it was pointed out to me by the good Lord that I had 20 dollars in my billfold. I said that it was yours God. I did not think any more about it and that afternoon someone gave me 20 dollars. You cannot out give God and I say Thank you God for your goodness to me. Even if I had not gotten that money in the afternoon it was still a blessing to give.

Take care and have a good day.

Greetings One and All

I never thought that I would be babysitting again but here I am and not minding it too much. Just ask me by the end of summer break and then I will let you know. The girls get out the 22nd and Van gets out around the 5th or 6th of June. At least I will not have them all the same time.

Tonight Van came in and ate his supper and went over the to recliner and fell asleep and slept for 3 hours. He was really sawing logs. I had speghetti, green beans, garlic and cheese bread and jello with fruit. Van ate a good plate of spaghetti and a can of root bear. He must have been very tired.

Last night I went to the girls spring musical. Oh dear the bleachers and I are not on the best of terms. And those stairs that are along the bleachers are the pits.

Well, do you know what happen to me this week? I got a call about rest home insurance. I accused my preacher of doing it and of course he thought that it was funny to say the least. Then I called a friend of ours in Indiana and ask if he did it and of course he said that he didn't. I get the hint loud and clear but I will get even if I ever find out who did this. Of course, it might be pay back to me too.

We have been cleaning the church and class rooms the last two weeks. I have enjoyed it. I feel that I am doing a little for God. When I was cleaning the class rooms I was praying for the teachers that they will reach those little ones.

Last week I had a definite answer to prayer. As most of you know I lost my job, insurance, benefits and the whole nine yards last year. Well, I heard about this free clinic down in Sidney for low income and no insurance. I had gone a little over a month ago and then had to go back on the 29th of April. The doctor came in and was talking a little about my medicine that I take and said that I should get most of it for 4 dollars each and the rest they would get help through the drug companies. After the doctor left to check on something I said, Oh God I wish that I could talk to him tonight. He came back in and made a comment about God supply the needs of this clinic. He gives one night a week there. Any way, I proceeded to tell him how good God had been to me the last year that I was off of work. I started crying as I was telling him that when I did not have 2 dimes to rub together to pay my bills that God would be there when I needed Him the most. Here he went to Oral Roberts medical school. He said that God told him to be a doctor and that he liked it to be able to work in the clinic so that he can talk about God.

God is so good to me far more than I deserve. Through this doctor and getting the generic at Wal Marts for 4 dollars. If I had to pay for it I would have had to pay over 400 dollars and through them I only pay 24 dollars a month. And the ones that I can not get through generic the drug companys are giving them to me. PRAISE THE LORD. He is so good to me.

Well, I think that my boy, Van has gone back to sleep so I had better get off of here and go check on him.

Remember friends, there is nothing impossible with God if we let him have control of our lives. As I told the doctor that we as people have quit depending upon God as much as we should and our children are getting away from seeing that.

Friends

Where would we be without friends? Most of all God as a very special friend whether we are glad or sad, good or bad. He is there for us.

I have one cousin that I am very close to, we are 2 years apart and we are more like sisters than cousins. We talk almost every day. Thanks goodness for unlimited time on Sprint. We have called regardless of what it may be to tell the other one. I also have a cousin that lives in California that is a lot older than I that I check in with about once a month and catch up with what is going on with the family.

Sunday, the 12 year old that I looked after decided to take a bike ride down to another street. Now mind you he had not ask permission to leave the trailer court like he is suppose to. I hunted at the park, Richard went to the store and looked around, one of his buddies that lives here in the trailer court and no Van. I was getting a little concern as we do have sexual pretators living about 2 streets in front of us. Well, I thought of some place else that he might have gone and in the mean time I see another kid that he has played with and I stopped and ask him if he had seen Van. He said that he had just left. By the time I got back to our place here he was and claiming that he was playing his video game. I told him what I knew and that he was to stay here with us. I contacted the grandfather and he also ask that he stay here till he got off work which was at 1130. He has been grounded from everything except sleeping, eating and watching TV according to his grandfather. This is suppose to go on for 2 weeks. If this does not do the job then the grandfather claims to be looking for a full time babysitter. And let me tell you Van is not looking forward to that to say the least.

The other two that I look after does not come till about 20 minutes till 7 now instead of 20 till 5 as the factory that Matt works for has cut some hours. It makes it better for the girls that they do not have to get up so early for the time being. And it is good for this ole' woman as well.

My grandson was here this past weekend and is he ever a corker. Not this time but sometime back Martha was teasing him and he finally had enough and he looked at her and said Marta(that is what he calls her) you have been bad, you sit on the couch and be in time out. Of course, Martha just about rolled on the floor laughing. He looked at her again and said You get in time out. You never know what he is going to say and do. For awhile he was not coming over because his aunt had a baby and I think that he thought he was going to miss out on some extra attention being given to the baby. He is doing better now and is ready to get back in the swing of things.

Take care and remember to call or write a friend that you think a lot of either from your past or present.

Long time no writing

The computer would not let me get into making a report for some reason. Of course, it could be the operator too.

I had to quit my job at the bakery as it was getting my knee flared up too much. It was hard work with a lot of sweeping and mopping in 4 hours. So I tried again to find another job and nothing worked out so I just prayed that God would just drop something in my lap. And He did by giving me 2 babysitting jobs. One is in the morning with 2 girls. I take them to school and then go pick them up and keep them till their Dad comes and gets them at 15 till 4. Then after they live then I have to keep an eye on a boy that is 12 and his grandfather needs someone for him to answer to and etc. Van is trying to prove to his grandfather that he can be by himself. So this one may only last till Christmas or a little longer. Van has to check in with me every 2 hours.

My apple of my eye , Matthew is here this weekend. He is excited to have the 2 girls that I babysit with here as well. I have to go to Sidney to the funeral home because my cousin, Esther passed away Tuesday. I told the kids that if they behave that we would go to the park afterwards. I got some lunchables, juice and etc to feed them lunch. If I had n0t been going to the viewing then I would have fixed some other things.

I am to have these girls this summer, so do any of you all have any receipts geared for kids to learn how to cook? If so I would appreciate them very much. They are not living with their mother so I thought that I would teach them how to cook. I just might teach them how to be ornery as well. LOL

Listen you all have a good day and God bless you very much.

My first week at work

Boy have I ever been having sore muscles from sweeping and mopping the floors at this new job. I forgot how sore I would be. I was doing the granny shuffle this week after I get home.
The job is general cleaning but a lot of mopping. The mop is an industrial type so that does not help with it being heavy. Tonight I was also cleaning a warmer that they put dough in to rise. It has several shelves and there was a lot of stuff on the shelves. I did not get it all done so will finish it on Monday. After I get home I feel like I have had a bath in donut scent. You would not think that it would do that since I do not work with the dough and all but guess it is in the air so much that it lingers for a long time.

I received a call from friend in Fla. that I had not talked to in years. We were discussing old times and laughing up a storm. It sure was great to hear from Dan once again. My brother use to go with his sister. One time his sister and I went up stairs and looked down on another sister as her and her boyfriend were right below us. She was ready to shoot us when she found out. We had a big laugh over that. Then one time the boyfriend left his army uniform and guess who tried it on. Me. We knew that he was going to be coming at a certain time so we went out on the porch and she laid her head on my shoulder. The look on his face when he thought someone else had come and taken over was priceless. After he realized it was me then he laughed.

I received a note from my neice that lives in Maryland the other day that she is going to go to South Africa on a tour. She and her husband went to Greece and Turkey this past summer and the summer before that they went to another country. I cannot remember the name of it. I wish that I could go along with her as I think that it would be interesting to see other places. She has also been to England and Ireland. Guess it is in the genes as my folks liked to travel. They always wanted to travel after they retired but Daddy's health failed so they couldn't.

Yesterday I baked about 6 different kinds of muffins and 3 loaves of bread to take to the church school fund raiser. I tried to bake a pineapple upside down cake but we will not discuss that. LOL. Use your imagination. Smile.

Take care and will talk at you again.

God Has Answered Prayer

Yesterday was my first day to work. Yes God has answered prayer and I got a part time job working for my cousin cleaning the bakery after hours. It will be about 3-4 hours an evening Monday - Friday. I was thrilled when she called and wanted to know if Richard and I wanted it. So since Richard is working at the butcher shop part time, I will be doing it.

We have been fighting colds and sore throats. Richard is at the doctor now because he was up last night with the coughing and etc. He has not been to a doctor in 2 years so when I suggested that he go and see about this he was ready. So I knew he was not feeling very good.

Thanks for all the prayers.

Me again

I am learning how to do this by asking Stephanie and then coming home and see if I get it right.
I have sure enjoyed getting acquainted with these blogs. My son sleeps during the day time as he works at night so there fore I have to be rather quiet. You that know me knows that is VERY hard for me to do. So this does in handy.

I have been asking God to supply my need and He has never failed one time. Being that I am on a fixed income it is wonderful to depend upon Him in so many ways. This past week a neighbor had come in with 2 girls around 8 and 9 and wanted to know if I wanted to watch them for about a half an hour to an hour every Friday night. I jumped at it and thank God for supplying some of my needs. These girls needs lots of love and attention as the father has them now because the mother was drinking and doing drugs. Who knows what else. So if you think of it I would appreciate your prayers in trying to help them.

We had a quiet holiday season. The kids were tired from working a lot of over time at work so they just wanted peace and quietness. We had gotten Matthew the weekend before Christmas Day so we celebrated when he was here. Doesn't kids make Christmas? He got so excited over the toys that all of us had gotten him. I really thanked Tom and Sharon( my brother and sister in law) for the noise maker that they got. They got him a race track with a couple of cars to go with it. Bless their heart for this. LOL

Today we had 2 GREAT sermons at church. Rev Nichols preached on restitutions and Rev Spencer preached on the things that God will do and not do. I appreciated both of their messages.

This morning I came home from church and here was Steven in the bathroom with Martha trying to shave his head. Oh dear. The reason for this is that the clippers went on the fritz and he did not want to pay for a trip to the barber. If he did not look different to say the least. It was hard to keep from laughing. But it is his head not mine. Oh well it will grow out real soon.

I hope to hear from you all real soon.
